This comic book is the end result of the 2017 nanoKOMIK project. The process began in early 2017 with the launch of the nanoKOMIK challenge, which has engaged more than 240 people aged 14+. In response to the challenge, over 70 pieces of work were submitted in Basque, Spanish and English, in which the participants brought their own comic superheroines or superheroes to life, endowing them with nanopowers which draw on the surprising properties that matter acquires through nanotechnology.
We’ve put together “Nanokomik #2” based on the best ideas from the comics entered into the competition. These three entertaining stories show how a few imaginative superheroes harness the possibility of modifying the properties of matter on the nanoscale to develop amazing superpowers.
The nanoKOMIK project team has worked with the winners of the 2017 challenge to create this book. They are Aśka, Jöse Sénder and Rubén Molina, and they have given form to the characters and scenes throughout.
The work is available in Basque, Spanish, French and English in both paper and digital format, and will be on show in various Basque and Spanish cities.
Dayanne and Murillo. The Power of Nanoscience (2016)
This comic book is the end result of the nanoKOMIK project of 2016. The process began in early 2016, with the launching of the nanoKOMIK challenge, which has involved more than 190 young people between the ages of 12 and 18. In response to the challenge, over 100 pieces of work were presented in Basque, Spanish and French, in which the young participants brought their own comic superheroines or superheroes to life, endowing them with nanopowers thanks to the surprising properties that matter acquires through nanotechnology.
Based on the best ideas from the comics presented in response to the challenge, the comic has taken shape as “Dayanne and Murillo. The Power of Nanoscience”, a fun story that tells the adventures of two ingenious scientists who develop amazing nanopowers.
To create this book, the nanoKOMIK project team has had the collaboration of a professional cartoonist, Hodei Iparraguirre, who has given the final form to the characters and scenes in the book.
The work is available in Basque and Spanish, and will soon be also available in French and English in both paper and digital format, and will be on show in different Basque and Spanish cities over the next few months.
